Change a lightbulb. Change a life.

How many eco-friendly consumers does it take to change a  lightbulb? How many to  change a life?

Purely Products makes it easy to help change lives. A national TV campaign for Healthy CFL  launched in December makes clean, healthy living easier for families and at the same time, makes it easy to help children in need – through diaperLove, a nonprofit organization providing diapers to children in need. Changing diapers. Changing lives.

Meet the hardest working lightbulb on the market.

Healthy CFL air purifier wrapped in a lightbulb

Healthy CFL, super energy efficient compact fluorescent lightbulb, saves consumers energy and money.

With the added bonus, of cleaning the air of allergens with a built-in ionizer.

And for an encore, it puts diapers on babies’ bottoms.  A percentage of every Purely Products purchase supports diaperLove.

So consumers can change their own families’ lives with a cleaner, healthier environment in their own home. And they can help change the lives of countless children in need every time they shop online  or at national retailers.

What an easy switch to make. Every time you change a Purely lightbulb, you can help a change a life.

Ninety Percent of Consumers Want Companies to Support Causes

American consumers are huge supporters of cause marketing campaigns,  according to Allyson Kapin’s blog in care2.com. She cites the 2010 Cone Cause Evolutions Study that finds 90% of consumers want companies to tell them the ways they are supporting causes.

More than 278 million people in the U.S. want to know what a company is doing to benefit a cause.  Consumers are “primed, attuned to cause branding” and ready for “deeper engagement.”

Are those your feelings as a consumer? Are you more likely to buy from a company who is cause-focused?

Healthy CFL tough enough for super pooper diaper & drooling dog

We love any blogger’s post that includes the shout-out, “Purely Products is my kind of company.” But then able2able.com put Healthy CFL, the little air purifier wrapped in a compact fluorescent lightbulb, to the ultimate smell test – baby poo and doggie drool.

You can read her entire review including her passion for Pocket Purifier here, but check out her family’s bottom line on the bulb.

“I also reviewed the Healthy light bulb. This innocent looking compact fluorescent lightbulb actually has an air purifier in its middle. The Healthy CFL cleans the air of cigarette smoke, pollen, mold, germs, dust, odors, pet dander and other airborne contaminants. As it cleans, the built-in ionizer also counters the draining effects of positive ions emitted every day by items like computers, cell phones, televisions, and forced air ventilation, while flowing a steady stream of refreshing negative ions into the air to boost mood and energy. Yeah, I was happy to have two of these in my home!

So does the Healthy CFL work?

My Red Dog loves to sneak on the couch when we are out on Clara-Bear’s longer appointment days. I discovered he was drooling on my couch when I started coming home to a closed up house with a funky smell. Now I leave the living room light with the Healthy CFL bulbs in it and I no longer notice a dog smell or closed up stuffy smell, even with the a/c turned up to 79 degrees. Since the Healthy CFL uses 80% less energy than a traditional light bulb we have not noticed an increase in our electricity bill with the light on all day.

I also had to move my essential oil diffuser out of the living room since I could not smell my beautiful oils. And I put the Healthy CFL to the ultimate, grossest test yesterday. I changed a super-pooper diaper underneath it, turned the a/c temp up, and left the house for an hour. I was relieved not to smell poop when we returned!”

“Since we have a houseful of asthma, allergies, and exzema, I really like knowing that allergens and triggers are being cleaned by the Healthy CFL’s along with the funk.”

Got any household funk issues for the little light bulb that could to take on?  Two free  Healthy CFLs to the grossest funk challenge! Thru 9/15/10.

Get your ducks in a row before the new pet comes home

Sounds fun right?  7-week old kitty. Irresistible sweet faced shelter puppy. Funny, furry Thumper. It might serve you to get all your ducks in a row before you bring the cat/dog/cockatoo/hamster/rabbit/guinea pig/iguana  home to the family. Here’s some practical, try-it-on first advice from information-packed buttoned up blog.

Lots of things to think about here, before the big homecoming, including “Consider any allergies or health concerns, since many types of pets have fur that can aggravate allergies and asthma.“  And (imagine) we just happen to have some advice for you on that one. Clean, healthy (and odor-free) living with pets is not a contradiction in terms.

New Pet CFL (how cute are those faces on the box?) helps remove pet odors and dander (an allergen that aggravates asthma and allergies), along with smoke, dust, pollen and mold spores. It’s got a built-in air purifier inside the energy-saving, money-miser compact fluorescent lightbulb. Which will come in handy when you have to get up a lot at night to soothe a crying puppy and take him ouside. So swap out your lightbulbs, take a deep breath and check out the Buttoned Up Way to greet the newest member of the family.

How does your family handle  the “I WANT A  PUPPY!” campaign?

Becoming ‘CFL savvy’

From Google reader, we found writer Chris Baskind, founder of Lighter Footstep focused on A Healthier Family. A cleaner planet. Making the most of your weekly budget. Chris counsels that “eco-friendly living is a process.” 5 Ways to Put the Joy Back into Going Green.  “Don’t be afraid to make mid-course corrections. There are more green things under the sun than you could ever do in one lifetime. Find the ones that make sense for you — particularly the ones you enjoy — and spend your time on those.”

Small steps, big difference is pivotal to Purely Products operating mantra. So when one of our customers, excited about his  new Healthy CFL’s  (Purely’s compact fluorescent lightbulb wrapped around an air purifier) emailed us to see if he could use them in ceiling fans, we gave him our opinion and then sent him to Chris’ blog 7 Tips for how to live with CFL’s.

In this blog on Mother Nature Network, Chris offers an easy to understand overview of energy-saving compact fluorescent bulbs that help the eco-leaning consumer become more CFL savvy. He covers options for proper disposal in Take the CFL Recyling Challenge.   And just fyi, Purely Products has a no-charge recycling program and you get 10% off your next bulb purchase. Pop Quiz on CFLs. Which One Works Hard for the Money?

How many bulbs does it take to change an energy-guzzling habit?

Or as Charles Fishman proposes, change the world? Just one. If every American home replaced just ONE incandescent light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, like compact fluorescent lightbulbs, (Healthy CFL from Purely Products for example), in one year it would:

  • save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes
  • reduce annual energy costs by more than $600 million
  • prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to taking 800,000 cars off the road

Should I wait until all my incandescent bulbs burn out before replacing with CFLs ?

The reality is, Ellen Florian reports, “You’d be wasting a lot of  money and energy. Scientists Jeff Tsao and Mike Coltrin of Sandia National Laboratories calculate you’d save money by tossing a new 60-watt incandescent and replacing it with a fluorescent. Why? The money you’d save on your electric bill with the CFL would more than make up for the cost of both bulbs. Over the CFL’s 12,000-hour lifetime, you would save some $51.”

So, how is Healthy CFL different from other CFLs?

Healthy CFL is the hardest-working bulb in the house. It’s a compact fluorescent lightbulb wrapped around an air purifier. While it saves you money and energy and helps cut greenhouse gas emissions, it’s helping remove dust, cigarette smoke, pollen, mold spores, pet odor and dander and other allergens. Any of those clogging the air in your house?

Watch Healthy CFL remove cigarette smoke in 30 seconds.

Any other reason why I should pop in a CFL (like this really swell Healthy CFL)?

You bet. The “Energy Bill” of 2007 requires all lightbulbs use 30% less energy than today’s incandescent bulbs by 2012,  phasing out 100-watt bulbs in January 2012 and ending with 40 watt bulbs in 2014.  Healthy CFL (along with Premium CFLand Pet CFL) use about 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and already meet the new efficiency standards.

Good for the pocketbook.  Good conservation. Good citizenship.

Last question. It’s Earth month. Good time to switch?

Leave us your brightest idea for greening your house and the best one gets a  Healthy CFL to get you going.

New EVP of Sales Tony Pecoraro Sees the Opportunity to Give Back

Say hello to Purely Products new Executive Vice President of Sales, Tony Pecoraro. You might not know his name, Purely Products New Executive VP Sales Tony Pecorarobut you will know the national brand names he has helped to grow over the past thirty years– household names like Helen of Troy (Revlon, Bed Head, Vidal Sassoon Hair Care Appliances), Nordic Ware, Litton Microwave, Magic Chef, and  As Seen on TV, K-Tel.  Tony has enjoyed a thriving, successful, satisfying career and led his salesmen and companies to thrive, grow and contribute to the marketplace. In one of our first conversations, the question popped up, How did you get into sales? His ready answer was, Someone saw something in me.

The story he told sounded like the opening scenes of Tom Hank’s tribute film to the early 1960’s, That Thing You Do. As a teen-ager, Tony worked every Saturday as a delivery boy in Buffalo, New York for one of those long gone neighborhood mom and pop appliance stores.  One day, the owner, Don Pirson, told Tony his customers had been raving about the helpful, conscientious young man who delivered their appliance, set it up, patiently walked them through the manual and answered all their questions.

Don asked Tony to show up the following Saturday in a jacket and tie instead of jeans. It was time for Tony to learn more than just delivery. Also working in the store were five retired gentlemen – all salesmen – who just could not retire. Each had been successful in their respective fields, from utilities to furniture to stocks & bonds, with a lifetime education in sales and service to offer. These six gentlemen chose to take him under their wing. Tony listened, learned and modeled everything he saw – what serving a customer with excellence truly meant.

So instead of following a career after college in psychology (like all natural salesmen, people fascinate Tony), he pursued a career in sales, moving vertically through sales management positions for some of America’s best loved household brands into senior management.  Thirty years of serving his customers followed, just like when raving customers called Don Pirson about him, only now he was serving in a national and international arena.

Purely Products Healthy CFL with built-in ionizer cleans the airWhich is why coming to Purely Products was a next logical step. The founder and president preaches and lives the gospel of raving customers – customers who are madly in love with you because you served them well. Tony sees opportunity and the vision of this thriving eco-minded, consumer-demand driven company. He is excited about expanding and opening up new channels for Purely’s innovative clean and healthy living brand.

However, Tony also saw something powerful in Purely’s heart to give back by helping children as part of its business model.  A percentage of all Purely Products’ sales support diaperLove™ a non-profit supplying diapers to children in need.  Tony sees the Purely paradigm as “the new American entrepreneurial spirit that unites strong business practices with social responsibility.” Again, it’s all about serving with excellence.

Twenty years into his career, Tony got the opportunity to go back to Buffalo and thank Don Pirson for seeing something in him and taking the time to help him develop natural gifts. The other five gentlemen who mentored him were no longer around to thank, but when asked, their names – Judd Rosengrant, Ellsworth Layer, Abbie Goldman, Eddie Wolmuth, George White – roll off his tongue as quickly as the names of friends he saw last week. Unforgettable, these six gentlemen from Buffalo. We thank them, too.

Tell us about someone who springs to mind who saw something in you.
